The process of analysis is the way to a more substantial maturity of the individual, as it brings him/her in contact with his/her self, feelings and experiences. There is a direct link between thought, action though behaviors that determine our lives, conscious or unconscious expression of our feelings, and the body. Through psychotherapy based on the approach of Wilhelm Reich and Gestalt we attempt to cultivate somatic intelligence along with emotional intelligence.
In sessions, which last forty-five minutes, we work on the relationship of the present with its causes that often mark out a dysfunctional and unsatisfying way of life. Through the therapeutic relationship, the client investigates the way in which he/she perceives the past in relation to the present, understanding those internal forces that inhibit the individual in his/her attempts to be creative and free. The awakening of consciousness, an honest relation between the therapist and the client and the clear framework that analysis provides, support the process so that feelings and sensations that have paralyzed him/her or that have been hiding in the body are unloaded; gradually he/she allows himself to experience the energy for extension, to make contact with more trust and love which is abundant within and around him/her. One who spends less energy being in conflict within him/ her self and with the outside environment, he/she can use his resources in a more constructive way and feel alive, less tired, being open to receive what life brings to him/her. Resistance and difficulties reflected in the body, on the content and the expression of speech, in verbal as well as in non-verbal communication, become guides to the illumination of the way to comprehending the source and his/her character structure. Many somatic and psychic symptoms of illness subside, the client redirects data and thus combines the way compatible to him/her with the present – which determines his/her future. Thus, psychotherapy offers the individual a journey of recovery and better contact with the deeper needs of his/her self, resulting in change, acceptance and metamorphosis.
This work is an arduous course which requires time, patience and discipline. The client improves his/her quality of life acquiring more functional relations at all levels: he/she learns how to give and take, to encounter the challenges of everyday life and the traps which we often set ourselves with greater skill. Finally, using the mirroring of the therapeutic relationship, he/she unifies conflicting sides of his/her self and accepts his/her own special and unique way of being.
